What is the difference between lug and wafer butterfly valves?

Lugged butterfly valves have a round disc with lugs that attach the disc to the valve's body. Wafer butterfly valves have a disc attached to the valve's body with screws or bolts. Both types of butterfly valves are used to control the flow of liquids and gases.

How does a wafer valve work?

These valves feature a hinged, flap-like disk (the wafer) that is used to allow and restrict liquid flow. This disk only opens in one direction and closes shut under back pressure to seal the valve against opposing fluid flow. Wafer check valves require a minimum amount of system fluid pressure to operate.

Do wafer butterfly valves need gaskets?

Even wafer style valves require 2 flanges. These should be the same size as your valve and may be one piece or loose ring style flanges. This will allow the surrounding pipe line to connect snugly with the butterfly valve. Most butterfly valves do not require extra gaskets.

• Inspection and approval norm: API598, API6D.

Quality control

• 100% Chemical analysis and mechanical test with raw materials of each heat numbers.

• 100% DPT test with the castings, partly MT or UT test, RT is always available if required.

• 100% hydraulic test with the shell and seal and low pressure air test.
